Grace Awakening 8

I am what I am by the grace of God. The apostle Paul said this, and it is true of us also. This implies that other believers, just like us, have the freedom to be who they are by the grace of God. This truth frees us from the undo fear of man and from the critical attitudes that so often drive us into fault-finding.

Grace Awakening 7

If grace is risky, then grace-filled parenting feels like Russian roulette. Our tendency is to control our children too long out of a sincere desire to spare them much grief. There may be some other less flattering reasons also. Grace is always worth the risk, however!

Grace Awakening 5

Grace teaching is risky. People may abuse grace when it is presented as taught in the New Testament. Paul was accused of teaching that grace was an excuse for sin. Despite the fact that grace teaching is risky it is still God's truth, and a truth to rejoice in!

Grace Awakening 4

Grace means that our salvation is absolutely free. You cannot buy it in order to have it. You cannot pay it back after receiving it. The forgiveness of sins can only be received as a free gift.

Grace Awakening 3

Definitions of grace are helpful, but the examples of grace in Jesus' life and ministry are even more helpful. When we become rooted in grace our lives will change in at least four noticeable ways. These are changes to be greatly desired!

The Grace Awakening 2

There are killers on the loose...grace killers! The are intolerant, judgmental, bullies, and narrow-minded. They intimidate people into a state of shame and fear. They have "no" faces instead of "yes" faces.

The Grace Awakening 1

In the 1980s a theological debate raged between what has been called "Lordship salvation" and "free grace." Both have valid points and value. Yet, many fear grace and would kill the grace of God they see in others. Legalism is a deadly foe!

Knowing God- Part 57

Paul's words in Romans 8 provide us with a great antidote for fear. We have all known fear of one sort or another. The knowledge that God withholds no good thing from us, that no one can effectually accuse us, and that our salvation is secure gives us stable ground on which to live our lives.

Knowing God- Part 56

Our Christian birthright does not involve sinless perfection, but is a promise of peace, hope, and joy even in the reality of our trials and struggles. Peace, hope, and joy do not mean we never feel concern or discouragement, however.

Knowing God- Part 55

Romans 8 can be viewed as emphasizing the adequacy of God's grace and the adequacy of the God of grace. If God and His grace are sufficient for us, what does this truth mean to us? To those to crave righteousness and face great pressures this truth is hugely consequential.
