Romans- Part 32

In Romans 6:15-18 Paul tells us that not only habitual sin, but also individual acts of deliberate sin are not for us as believers. We were once the slaves of sin, but we must serve sin any longer. Yet, we do at times sin. How are we to reconcile the awesome truths of this passage with our own life experience?

Romans- Part 31

Paul clearly identifies our bodies as being the vehicles of our sinful choices. Sin can never be cured from the outside in- by dealing with the body. Thank God, it is possible for the members of our bodies to be instruments of righteousness.

Romans- Part 30

The message of the cross has both a death side and a life side. The death side must be known first, but the life side is where we must orient ourselves. The new life that is in us means that we can indeed do all things through Christ Who strengthens us. This means that we are not powerless in the face of temptations and the sins that have bound us.

Romans- Part 29

In Romans 6 God gives us His provision and prescription for us to live in victory over our sinful natures. We have been crucified with Christ and to be dead is to be free from sin! There are illustrations that can be helpful to us in understanding this truth.

Romans- Part 28

There are many believers who live below their privileges as sons and daughters of God. God's grace identifies us with Jesus Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. This offers us power over sin. We must know our position in Christ!

Romans- Part 26

In Romans 5:12-21 we see Adam as a type of Christ. What Adam did affected many. What Christ did affected many also. The affects, however, were in completely opposite directions.

Romans- Part 25

God's wrath against sin and sinners is real. So is His love. Believers have been saved from God's wrath by faith in Jesus Christ. To be "in Adam" means sin and death, but to be "in Christ" means righteousness and life. We have reason for joy!

Romans- Part 24

In Romans 5:1-5 we discover five great benefits of our justification. Having covered the first three last week we turn our attention to the last two. As believers we have a completely different outlook on suffering, plus the Holy Spirit sheds abroad the love of God in our hearts. This love is so remarkable because it was offered to us when we were without strength, ungodly, sinners, and God's enemies.

Romans- Part 23

In Romans 5 Paul turns his attention to 5 great results and benefits of our justification. The first three are peace with God, access to grace, and hope of the glory of God. These benefits are very real and very valuable.

Romans- Part 22

The great proof that righteousness is by faith and not by works can be seen in the life of Abraham. Abraham and Sarah were given a son when it was impossible for them to have children. God's promise to them was received by faith, not by works. We often think that Abraham's faith wavered because of what he did with Hagar, but God sees things differently!
