Romans- Part 9

Romans 1:24, 26, and 28 tell us what God gives man over to because of man's unrighteousness. Man has chosen his way, so God will sentence him to his sinful choice. The description of man in this state is terrible, and all too familiar for the day and age in which we live.

Romans- Part 8

The consequences of man's unrighteousness are massive. Man trades God's glory for idols and God's truth for lies. God responds in utter contempt for man's unrighteousness by giving him over to his evil.

Romans- Part 7

Romans 1:18-32 is one of the most horrifying descriptions of man in his unrighteous condition found anywhere in the Bible. Idolatry is one of the consequences of man's unrighteousness.

Romans- Part 6

"Righteousness" is the one word that best sums up the key theme of Romans. How can any person be righteous before God? The great answer is "by faith." We must begin, however, by examining man's condition apart from God.

Romans- Part 5

In Romans 1:16 we find the third of our three part message. Here Paul gives us the debtor's confidence- the gospel is the power of God unto salvation. Too often the Church seems to think that the gospel needs man's help. Well, the methods used by the Church are adjustable, but cannot vary with every preference of man.

Romans- Part 4

Romans 1:14-16 can be taught as a three point message. In verse 14 we see the debtor's conviction- having received the gospel, the believer owes to others a presentation of the gospel. In verse 15 we find the debtor's commitment- he is ready, as much as is in him, to preach the gospel.

Romans- Part 3

Paul had never visited the Roman believers to whom he wrote. In Romans 1:8-13 he establishes a personal rapport with them by commending their faith, by telling them of his prayers for them, and by speaking of his desire to visit them. In these 6 verses there are at least 5 key points for us to consider.

Romans- Part 2

In his opening introduction the apostle Paul mentions the gospel, and proceeds to explain that the gospel is all about Jesus Christ. He proclaims Who Jesus was "according to the flesh" and "according to the spirit of holiness." He also proclaims Jesus' resurrection.

Romans- Part 1

In this introduction to the book of Romans we cover the timeline of Paul's life and consider the changing of his name. Even Paul's opening greeting from Romans 1:1,7 is rich with meaning.

II Peter- Part 36

The closing verses of II Peter bring to our attention the complementary truths of spiritual steadfastness and spiritual growth. Both are needed, and in fact they depend upon one another. In a day of instability may we as the people of God be steadfast in our faith.
