Grace Awakening 16

In Romans 6:16-23 there is contained a vital truth. That truth is the fact that the master we choose determines the life we live. Everyone serves a master. Freedom does not mean that we do not serve, but that we get to choose the master we serve. Life is lived well when we choose well, and that means choosing Jesus as our Master.

Grace Awakening 15

Many believers have personal lists of do's and don'ts they live by. Sometimes these lists contain items that are not specifically listed in Scripture. We must not make our personal lists legally binding on other believers, but we must have the freedom to lovingly exhort and challenge each other as family.

Being saved is wonderful, but it is the beginning, not the end. From the day we are saved we are to grow up and mature in Christ. As parents we are to teach our children so they can grow and mature in Christ. This means being willing to say difficult things in loving ways.

Grace Awakening 14

The Emancipation Proclamation set all slaves free. Some may not have known they were free. Some may have chosen to stay with their masters. Freedom was available to all, however. This is a great illustration of the truths contained in Romans 6-8.

Grace Awakening 12

There are three characteristics of legalists- false doctrine, spying out liberty, and hypocrisy. These three are exposed and dealt with in the book of Galatians. Are they of any relevance to us?

We need to define the terms "liberty" and "legalism." Once the terms are understood we can then begin to evaluate ourselves. Maybe the best tool for evaluation is the fruit of the Spirit. The character our lives display can indicate to us whether we are enjoying liberty, indulging in license, or languishing in legalism.

Grace Awakening 10

Both "Lordship salvation" doctrines and "free grace salvation" doctrines have a point. Peter's vision and his conflict with Paul over eating with Gentiles illustrate the challenge of determining how our salvation should be expressed in matters considered important but non-essential.

Grace Awakening 9

Unconditional love... In this life it seems that so many people have conditions attached to their love. Furthermore, so few really know what love is. In this study we explore the question of whether or not God's love toward us is really unconditional.

Grace Awakening 8

I am what I am by the grace of God. The apostle Paul said this, and it is true of us also. This implies that other believers, just like us, have the freedom to be who they are by the grace of God. This truth frees us from the undo fear of man and from the critical attitudes that so often drive us into fault-finding.
