The Gibeonites

In Joshua 9 we read the story of the Gibeonites and the Israelites. In verse 7 we find the word "perhaps." In verse 22 we find the word "deceived." These two words offer a great challenge to us in our modern day Christian lives.

Dealing with Sin

When Achan sinned, God told Joshua to execute him. It seems extreme, but when examined it makes perfect sense. New Testament believers, however, do not execute brothers and sisters who sin. How should we handle sin?

Joshua Before Jericho

Before the attack on Jericho there were 6 significant events in Joshua's life. Two of them stand out- the crossing of the Jordan and his meeting with the man with a drawn sword. We can apply these events to our own lives.

The Enemies Within

God told Joshua to "be strong and very courageous." Fear is one of many possible enemies we each have lurking within us. These enemies threaten to stifle the life of God's Spirit within us and kill the effectiveness of our service to the Lord. These enemies must be overcome.

Landmarks

We live in a world in which the landmarks of life and morality have been or are being torn down. Even within the Church there seems to be a loss of such landmarks. What are we to do? The answer is found in walking with God.

Walk Humbly

What does it mean to walk with God? It means a life of obedience to God's Word and the Holy Spirit. It means a life of communion with God. It also means a life of humility.

Do Justly

In His Word God shows us what is good. Men in general, and young men in particular, need the challenge to rise up and pursue what is good. A good place to begin is with doing justice.

Men of the Word

In Micah 6:8 the prophet declared, "He has shown you, O man, what is good and what the Lord requires of you..." God has shown us in His Word what is good. His Word is the truth foundation upon which our experience and the Holy Spirit work to lead us in the way we are to live. Men, let us rise up and be men of the Word!
